Phoenix catscratch are friends. They released this record via dead scarlet records (great company with greek & foreign releases go check’em out) in the past year. We didn’t want to up their stuff, as long as they were active, but now that the band is split (why do good things always come to an end?) , we gave in. This is amazing NEW music, dark, indie, post-punk,minimal a great mix with all the genres well balanced (no nu grave bullshit tho). The two vocals that the sound of the band’s based on are reminiscent of virgin prunes, but they have a vibe of their own. This band made a blast on drop dead festival, so much that the audience wanted them to play a 2nd time.
Don’t expect us to scan the 24 page special booklet with lyrics and all, artwork by Kiril Bikov. Go buy the record , and when it’s sold out, IF we get enough requests, we ll scan it for you:)

Γιατί zombie dance?

Γιατί στον τωρινό κοσμο των ζωντανών, εμείς δεν είχαμε ποτέ την παραμικρή ευκαιρία.Γιατί -όπως στην κλασικη ιστορια τρόμου με το πλασμα που περνάει απο τη γραμμη του φυσικου στο υπερφυσικο- αντι να κάτσουμε στα αυγά μας επιστρέφουμε απο τον τάφο που μας ρίξανε για να στοιχειώνουμε όποιους νομίζουν (κι επιμένουν) οτι είναι ζωντανοί.
Δεν διαλέξαμε να έρθουμε σ’ αυτό τον κόσμο στην κατάσταση που είναι.Διαλέγουμε όμως καθε στιγμή να συνεχίζουμε να υπάρχουμε εδώ. Αυτή είναι συνειδητή επιλογή, και μαζι της τραβάμε μια γραμμή απ’όσα μας χωρίζουν απο τον κόσμο των αλλων, και πλέον αρχίζουμε να δημιουργούμε καταστάσεις ( φάσεις, χώρους, βραδιές) στις οποιες χωράμε εμείς.Ο καθένας με τις διαφορές του, είμαστε μέρη μιας κοινότητας που προσπαθεί να υπερβεί τους ετεροκαθορισμούς των σκοτεινών μουσικών ειδών (gothic, psychobilly. minimal, punk…) και μικροκομματικών πολιτικών ταμπελών και δουλεύουμε μαζί γι αυτά που μας ενωνουν. Γι αυτό διαλέγουμε και δουλεύουμε κάτω από ένα γενικό όρο “ομπρελα” deathrock που και ιστορικά δεν έχει λειτουργήσει για να διχάσει, αλλά και με την αναβίωση του όρου στα πρόσφατα χρόνια, αγκαλιάζει την ευρύτερη dark undergound σκηνή στο εξωτερικό, και γιατί όχι, κι εδώ..
Σκοπός και εμμονή μας δεν είναι η εκδίκηση ή η τυφλη καταστροφή, σαν το μυθικό “τέρας” της λογοτεχνίας ή της χ ταινίας τρόμου. Το δίχως ζωη “τέρας” που παραδόξως βρίσκεται ακόμα στα πόδια του,απέθαντο, τυφλά ακολουθεί και μαγνητίζεται απο τους ζωντανούς, γιατι το μόνο που ξέρει, είναι εκείνο που έχασε ή του αφαιρεθηκε και το οποίο πλέον απεχθάνεται. Έτσι κι εμείς, με τη δικιά μας πείνα και δίψα για “αιμα” και “μυαλα”, δεν λειτουργούμε τυφλά αντιδραστικά αλλά δημιουργούμε με τους δικούς μας κανόνες, τις δικές μας ΥΓΙΕΙΣ κοινωνίες (άλλοι τις λένε υποκουλτούρες), στην πίσω μεριά του καθρέφτη από την κοινωνία των αλλων. Γιατί στεκόμαστε ακόμα. Μπορεί να μας πήραν τη “ζωή”, μπορεί να πάτησαν επί των πτωμάτων μας για να χτίσουν τις καριέρες τους, μπορεί να μας πήραν τα τελευταιί ψιλά στα μαγαζιά της διασκέδασης τους, μπορεί να προσπάθησαν αποτυχημένα να μας επαναπρογραματίσουν με τις κανονικότητες τους, αλλά τα δικά μας ανθρώπινα κουρέλια , στα μάτια μας σημαίνουν αξιοπρέπεια.

Κι ας είμαστε νεκροί και τελειωμένοι για τον κόσμο των ζωντανών,
Ki ας είμαστε απέθαντοι σ’ ένα κοσμο που δεν ζει. Ας είναι.
Εμείς χορεύουμε και τραγουδάμε ακόμα.

Γιατι στην λεσχη υπογείως ;

Η αυτοοργάνωση των αναγκών μας, το diy, ή μια δική μας προσέγγιση του, έχει αφενός να κάνει με τη διαφύλαξη της συνεχισης του δρομου μας στις θλιβερες συγκυρίες του κόσμου του σήμερα. Όσο είμαστε εμεις υπευθυνοι για όσα κάνουμε, σημαίνει οτι δεν μπορεί κανένας έμπορας που προσπαθεί να πουλήσει αυτό που είσαι τη μια στιγμή, την επόμενη να σε πετάξει και να σε αντικαταστήσει με το επόμενο νέο πράγμα. Από τη μία λοιπόν στη λέσχη της καλλιδρομίου με τον τρόπο που λειτουργεί μπορούμε να συνεχίζουμε με μια σταθερή βραδυα σαν dr X gr ανεξαρτήτως της ασχήμιας του γύρω κόσμου , αφετέρου μπορούμε να υπάρχουμε και με τους όρους που επιθυμούμε. Η ελεύθερη είσοδος, τα όχι υπερτιμημένα ποτά, η εθελοντική εργασία απο μέλη της λέσχης και συνεργασία με εμάς τους deathrockers, το στησιμο και ξεστησιμο απ’όλους μας μαζί, αυτό είναι η αξιοπρέπεια. Μια βραδυά σίγουρα , ένα παρτυ, που είναι διασκέδαση, αλλά όχι διασκέδαση μάταιη και κανιβαλιστική. Δεν τελειώνει με την πάροδο του βραδυού, δεν θολώνει, και ούτε αυτοτιμωρείται-αυτοκαταστρέφεται.

Το υπόγειο της λέσχης δεν έχει να κάνει με τον πάνω ένοχο κόσμο, γιατί δεν προωθεί και αναπαράγει την κατανάλωση, δεν είναι εναλλακτικό σε τίποτα γιατί δεν αναγνωρίζουμε το δικό τους κανονικό, η τέχνη και η “μη-τεχνη” που περνάει απο τους τοίχους της δεν ειναι βαμμένη με αίμα, γιατί δεν έχει κοστίσει σε εργατοώρες και μεροκάματα, ούτε κοιτάει αφυψηλού τους θεατές της. Είναι από μας για μας,συνεργατική και αυτοοργανωμένη και την δημιουργούμε όλοι μαζί συμμετέχωντας ομότιμα, χωρίς αρχηγούς και ιεραρχίες,, ο καθένας όσο μπορεί και θέλει.

North of England goth band, with a four-man line-up consisting of Simon Asquith (vocals & guitar), Steve Shepley (keyboards), Dean Woodhead (bass) and Paul Asquith (drums). ’Silent Run’ should be a post punk classic, otherwise ’(Living in a) Tin’ is more synth/wave oriented, and here is a version remixed from the mini album ’Caress And Curse’. They realeased two excellent singles “Silent Run” in 1984 and “To the Suffering” in 1985 and the richly textured instant mini-album “Caress and Curse”. Then, the line-up changed and Louie replaced the bassist Dean Woodhead. They released a maxi-single 12″ “Big Money” in 1986.

This is excellent guitar & drum driven old scool dark punk. It isn;t made like this anymore.

This is maybe the fastest guitar driven post/punk i ‘ve ever laid ears on…Very close to deathrock, i wish i knew what the lyrics were about…or why greece’s date for the beggining of the end of the junta era is important to them! The guys from Motorama play here…it is their side project. What more can i say- get this, yesterday…

Leipzig-based Monozid have been playing since 2003, and they’ve become

quite the experts in post punk sounds.

They are also quite dedicated to keeping the corpse that the DIY scene is on its feet, and they themselves suggested their records for uploading…

if only more bands like MONOZID wanted to be heard, and if only moar bands had relevance…

Ding An Sich – Old As Forever…New As Tomorrow (GR dark wave 2000)

One of the best greek darkwave records out there!! Their myspace page says this..
..First Chapter (1987 – 1991).. ..Ding An Sich was formed in 1987 in Athens – Greece. Their first formation included: Nick Sarikostas – bass , George Polizos – drums , Takis Merekos – voice , and a guitarist whose name is forgotten. He was replaced by Dimitris Papalakis just a while before the recordings for the first single were about to start… ..In 1989 a 7 inch single named And / Wandering was released. In 1990 Vagelis Bekonopoulos joined the group as keyboardist. During that period, the guitarist Tasos Nomikos , replaced D. Papalakis. From 1988 until 1991, the band recorded the tracks which formed their first complete work named Old As Forever.New As Tomorrow. During this period, they performed some live shows too.. the most remarkable of which are with Paul Roland and The Damned… ..Second Chapter (1993 – 1996).. ..This period is distinguished for the substantial changes as far as the formation is concerned, but also their direction. Ding An Sich sustain as studio project only. The trinity consists of: Maria Batistatou – voices , George Ginis – Various / Effects , Nick Sarikostas – Programming / Keyboards , Some good friends of the band, offered a helping hand, and the album The Wanderer & His Shadow was released at the dawn of 1996… ..
The band bio continues and the band is still active but changed to other genres now..
