Επιπλέον εκείνο τον καιρό ετοιμάζονταν για αγγλόφωνη δουλειά. Φυσικά τα ίχνη τους έχουν χαθεί εδώ και χρόνια και δεν υπάρχουν πληροφορίες για αυτούς και την δράση τους.. Έχουν συμμετάσχει στην συλλογή Φάκελος Rock 1 & 40 χρόνια rock & Γυαλιά Ηλίου στο Σκοτάδι (diy) με το τραγούδι “η εικόνα του σπηλαίου”. “

Adis is the next greek best thing next to the Sisters Of Mercy. They want to sound like them, dress like them, be like them. Song titles including the bat, when night falls, the cavern’s image and of course their name’s choice ADIS (hell-the underworld-where the dead went for ancient greeks) suggest the same. It is also very romantic guitar-vocal oriented music, they closely stick to the gothic rock nosferatu/early mission/sisters of mercy/ sound so the music hasn’t aged as much as one would think-it comes from the early 2000’s. This should have been played more in greek clubs everywhere, but no, fuck you, djs, you play what the people want to listen, right? Play for pay, a familiar story…

Anyone aboard for greek goth, hop on, citizens.

Profile:
Arguably the first truly independent record label in Greece, founded in Athens by Μπάμπης Δαλίδης (drummer for prominent Creep band Villa 21) in November 1982. It released eight 7” singles and 13 LPs between 1982 and 1986. With the exception of one record (by Swiss all-girl band Vyllies, The), Creep’s releases were the best available portrait of the so-called “English-speaking” (songs with English lyrics) Greek underground scene of the time.
In the mid 90s, Creep Records resurfaced to release some of their back catalogue on CD.

Deathrock X Greece

With the cd format’s arrival, we’ve lost the feeling of vinyl & cassette sides. Sometimes, the singles would be the first songs in each side, and the “filler” material would usually go to the b-side of the LP. The A sides would wear out more as they were put to play again and again in dark 80s bedrooms and living rooms everywhere. Renamed the files to bring back that old feel.

Sound quality lossless afficionados, “serious” collectors & weirdos may have some objections. We gave it our best for the best outcome possible. It is what it is, be thankful or do your own version. Mp3 Gain was used to normalize volume between different uploads. You’re welcome, ~~virtual~~dj’s.

The times are a-changing, 1 GB doesn’t sound as scary as in the early 2000’s and this discography was long overdue. Kudos to all great people & blogs without who, this couldn’t have been possible. Panos Geheimnis, the Psychopomp, Urban Aspirines, 10.000 eyes, Fearcondition, Mutant Sounds, AbsentFriend. A big shoutout to all record lovers out there, keep listening, keep believing. Music, along with an open mind, can make a difference.

The Hands of Cain were Dimitris Chorianopoulos (vocals, bass), Spyros ‘S. Adam’ Floros (drums), Costas Papakitsos (synthesisers) and Dimitris Stamatiou (guitar) from Athens, Greece.

In 1983 the HANDS OF CAIN evolved from of one of the first groups of the Greek punk scene of the early 80’s called Ausschwitss when their music was gaining a darker shade and their lyrics were changing to English.

Unlike their former group, The Hands of Cain had very little public exposure, but built their reputation amongst the lively Athenian dark wave/post punk scene of the time with a few live gigs in clubs like ‘Skylab’ and ‘Pegasus’. They finally split up in November 1985, and although none of their recordings was ever released their fame lived on.

An end was put to this local hidden secret

when Dimitris ‘Profitis’ Petrou sent Annalogue records two tracks in Autumn 2007, “Two Steps to the End” and “The Dagger in Me”. Anna was blown away by those tracks and couldn’t believe they have remained unreleased. Of course, this had to be changed. The quality of HOC’s song writing is amazing, these are just strong compositions, and without any doubt, this album will perfectly line up with the best ever goth/dark wave albums being so close to Christian Death’s first recordings as well as the best songs by Bauhaus.

Their tracks are pure mid 80’s despair and melancholy, typical of the goth/dark wave scene of the time, although such terms as goth or dark-wave had not yet been invented by journalists back then. The material was (more or less) preserved on dusty 8mm reels and worn-out cassette tapes – it is thanks to Dave Hewson, who digitally transferred and restored these tracks that this fascinating music escaped oblivion.

Ding An Sich – Old As Forever…New As Tomorrow (GR dark wave 2000)

One of the best greek darkwave records out there!! Their myspace page says this..
..First Chapter (1987 – 1991).. ..Ding An Sich was formed in 1987 in Athens – Greece. Their first formation included: Nick Sarikostas – bass , George Polizos – drums , Takis Merekos – voice , and a guitarist whose name is forgotten. He was replaced by Dimitris Papalakis just a while before the recordings for the first single were about to start… ..In 1989 a 7 inch single named And / Wandering was released. In 1990 Vagelis Bekonopoulos joined the group as keyboardist. During that period, the guitarist Tasos Nomikos , replaced D. Papalakis. From 1988 until 1991, the band recorded the tracks which formed their first complete work named Old As Forever.New As Tomorrow. During this period, they performed some live shows too.. the most remarkable of which are with Paul Roland and The Damned… ..Second Chapter (1993 – 1996).. ..This period is distinguished for the substantial changes as far as the formation is concerned, but also their direction. Ding An Sich sustain as studio project only. The trinity consists of: Maria Batistatou – voices , George Ginis – Various / Effects , Nick Sarikostas – Programming / Keyboards , Some good friends of the band, offered a helping hand, and the album The Wanderer & His Shadow was released at the dawn of 1996… ..
The band bio continues and the band is still active but changed to other genres now..
